Using Powtoon and Movenote

Hi all,

My name is Sarah Nally and I teach in St Brigid's School in Westmeath.  St B's is a special needs school.  I currently teach teens aged 13-17yrs.  We are implementing the new Junior Cycle Level 2 Learning programme, which is going really well.

I heard about this course from JCT.  I am an Associate with them for the Level 2 Learning Programme and am delighted I was invited to do this.  :-)

I'm slightly late getting involved as i had problems with watching webinars.  Catching up now.  As a result this initial blog is just an intro to me, I haven't been able to do the ICT tasks in school but will be making it a priority over the next week.   I hope i'm not too late.

Internet is sometimes hit and miss in the school, and we only have 1 class laptop which is difficult when I have a class of 10.   Having said that I have used and try to use technology as much as possible.  Students have enjoyed Movenote and Powtoon in particular.  We have created short Prezi's in the past.  I think been able to use basic packages such as Word and Powerpoint are invaluable and for most of my SEN learners quite a lot to grasp.

I have set up an account for SymbalooEDU and i'm really looking forward to using this and sharing this with my colleagues.   I have started doing up a webmix for the Level 2 which is going to be invaluable. Thank you :-)

Having trouble with Office Mix - is it only for Windows?  Yes, just googled this and have found a solution so will get to work on that.

Thanks for the opportunity, Sarah

Hope to get on the webinar now i have chrome.

  1. Hi Sarah,

No you are not too late. Thank you for creating the blog and giving SymbalooEDU a try. It is a really neat and visually pleasing means of storing and sharing web content.

Yes, to create an Office Mix you need to be using a Windows operating system and you need PowerPoint 2013 or 2016. Feel free to get in touch directly if you need any help, afrawley@h2.ie .

    Thanks again for your participation.

    Aedamar.
